Quote Check

Quote Check

Upload 2–3 installer quotes (PDF) or paste the text. We normalise the maths, expose hidden exclusions and VAT traps, and tell you which quote to sign — plus the exact questions to ask each installer. Your documents never leave your device.

Indicative analysis based on the documents you provided, not investment advice. Scores compare your quotes against each other and the Besscare Selection database.

Our methodology — public, on purpose

Every verdict comes from eight published checks, applied identically to every quote. Weights and evidence rules are public because a method you cannot inspect is just an opinion.

1 · Effective total (25%). We normalise every quote to the same basket: scaffolding (€950), AREI/keuring inspection (€250), grid-operator registration (€190), monitoring hardware (€150), meter-cabinet work (€600) — Flemish market rates, reviewed quarterly. The price that matters is the one that includes everything.

2 · VAT legality (10%). Renovation homes (10+ years) qualify for 6% VAT in Belgium. A quote charging 21% is flagged with the euro amount — on a €12,000 project that is €1,600.

3 · Electrical design (15%). Topology fit (hybrid vs AC-coupled for your situation), DC/AC ratio, phase balance, string-inverter/battery mismatches, backup claims vs hardware reality. This is the check no price-comparison site runs — and the one a 15-year installer runs first.

4 · Equipment position (15%). Quoted brands are matched against the Besscare Selection: service-audit scores where audits are complete, neutral position where they are pending. No brand pays to be here.

5 · Warranty substance (15%). Years vs cycles vs throughput — which cap bites first; labour coverage; who executes a claim locally. Vague “factory warranty” wording caps a quote at backup rank.

6 · Installer signals (10%). Certification, registration discipline, insurance, and whether exclusions are volunteered before you ask — the strongest honesty predictor in our quote benchmark.

7 · Hidden-cost & upsell flags (5%). Below-the-fold exclusions, oversized-battery pressure, monitoring subscriptions starting in year two.

8 · Data ownership (5%). Who owns your monitoring data, and whether it survives the installer’s bankruptcy.

Evidence levels. Every claim in a verdict is tagged: E1 measured (our audits and benchmarks), E2 documented (the quote or public filings), E3 claimed (vendor statement, unverified). Scores never rest on E3.

What we do not do. We do not rank installers for money; we do not sell leads; the tool never sees your documents (all processing is local, in your browser). How the field standard compares: Which? and Stiftung Warentest run lab tests; EnergySage standardises quotes inside its marketplace; we do quote forensics — the only model that works with the offers you already hold.
