Which batteries are in scope?

The regulation defines several battery categories. The passport is required for:

  • Light means of transport (LMT) batteries — e.g., e-bike and e-scooter batteries

From 18 February 2027, any new battery in scope must have a passport before it can be placed on the market. That means when you buy a home battery after that date, you should receive a QR code that gives you access to the passport.
